Father's Day Movie Night
Our dad is the best. I know everyone says that right? Our dad or as my kids call him Papa, is also our business partner and mentor. He is so supportive of our expansions and ideas that its not surprising that we decided to roll out our first official movie night for him and my hubby for Father’s Day. It was a whirlwind of a day, making sure that all of our gear was ready and working, packing the car, buying the paletas. My brother-in-law, Richie, got roped into helping us run errands because among other things I’m pregnant and can’t lift anything right now. So I got to do all the fun and pick out the paleta flavors for our Father’s Day fiesta. If you’re not familiar with a paleta it’s a Mexican ice cream bar. They are made with fresh fruit and juice, yogurt and fruit, and some are creamy ice cream bars like a strawberries and cream or chocolate. My strawberry bar tasted so fresh, it was like I was eating a frozen fresh strawberry on a stick. They are perfect for these hot Palm Springs summer nights.
Look at all those chunks of strawberry goodness!
We got to my Aunt’s house before my parents so that we could do the full setup before they arrived and have the full experience. Erin and Richie set-up the movie screen, popcorn machine, chairs and pillow pile, and the projector. I took some pictures and then we all hopped into the pool to cool off and use our EPIC pool floats. Seriously, we have one that looks like a golf cart and it gives me life.
It’s the perfect dive-in seat. It even has cupholders for your soda and popcorn bucket.
It reminded me and Erin yet again why we love doing this for other people, creating a magical environment and experience without all the work is pretty amazing. In the end we had the best evening as a family. Eating BBQ, popcorn, candy and paletas while watching a family favorite and hanging out by the pool was the perfect way to end the weekend and celebrate our favorite dads.
